“Your descriptions of people and places give them life in the mind of the reader” “You captured my imagination with the way you wove together the storylines and the characters' thoughts.” Natalie Freiburger, Teacher |
Every book and every story in print is a ticket to some other time or place--some ordinary, some exotic, but always new and sometimes wonderful experiences. Journeys transports the reader from ancient biblical lands to modern-day Africa; from the developing U.S. to the country's congested cities of today; from life's amusing moments to shared dispair; and from darkness to light.

"The Journey." Set in the Great Depression, a young family adds to its number during a brief roadside stopover that interrupts their trek across Arkansas on their way to the promised land of Kentucky.
"The Reunion" is bittersweet for once young lovers now grown older, and having been separated by years of time and thousands of miles.
"Robertus Rulius." Politics have changed little since the days of old. The ancient senatorial Romans and Greeks, et al, were well educated in fooling the populace and confusing the issues as they collected taxes, and sparred, ungentlemanly, among themselves.
"The Assumption of Buford Ramsey" is a coming-of-age tale wherein a young man newly on his own discovers the world around him, and finds that other people and places supply the real education that his high school curriculum neglected.
"The Kokomo Literary Society" takes Midwestern mores to new highs, and comic lows, as the local literati struggle to keep the peace among the membership, and hold their fragile organization intact.
"A Day at the Zoo" is a murder for hire tale with an international cast of characters. The setting is southern Africa, and the “zoo” is not one at all but a wild animal reserve—or perhaps the “zoo” is simply the world of murderers and thieves.
"Grandfather was a Bastard" relates the story of a doorstep foundling who grew up amid personal mystery, and died leaving the discovery of his poignant, and violent, family history to descendants of the boy who became a man who became a clan elder.
"Without Reservation." International travel can be enlightening, entertaining, frustrating and fulfilling, particularly when the travelers are worldly innocent, and the destination is modern Darkest Africa.
"Valerie" was Richard’s dream― and his nightmare. Memories of their lovers’ tryst cause him anxiety that his devoted wife might find out, and even more unease over just what Valerie’s brother, who located Richard after many years, has in store for him.
"Executive Decision." The mighty publisher who can’t make a judgment or stick to a resolution is like the chameleon that went berserk trying to conceal itself in the pattern of the plaid picnic blanket.
"The Penultimate Bullet." There is a reason to live and a time to die; and a near miss at the latter is cause to celebrate the former.
"Moneybags." Who hasn’t dreamed of coming into instant wealth that will change their life? But can everyone handle the responsibility, and the particularly the pressures, if the original owners are trying to find out who has it now?
